Multi Skill Academy
During the Easter half term
break, Chance Camp will be running a Gifted and Talented multi skill
sports academy. Primary schools in Allerdale will have the opportunity
to send any talented children to the camp to learn, compete and
challenge against each other. A detailed assessment will be completed of
each child so they understand any areas of improvement they can make.
This will then be sent to parents and schools.
The academy will challenge the children in the following areas:
Ability: strength, speed, skill, stamina and suppleness
Ability: decision making, dealing with pressure, tactics
Ability: different ideas and adaptability
Ability: motivation, perseverance, hard working,
organisation and healthy lifestyle
Ability: team work, meeting new people, accepting others
and communication (speaking and listening)
Challenging and working on the areas mentioned allows the children to
make a smooth transition into Key Stage 3 Physical Education where
technique is continually developed to improve performance in a variety
of competitive sports. From the academy, children will also gain
experience in coming up with a range of tactics and strategies to beat
opponents, working as a team and coming up with solutions to conquer
We believe this camp will raise the aspirations of young children in
Allerdale and plant the seed for them to grow their full sporting
