Summer Term 2 Athletes

Bradley- Silloth Primary School

This young man has participated brilliant in our healthy ways workshop, where each week we are working on a different challenge from strength, stamina, speed, suppleness and skill.

He has pushed himself in every area, recording his scores in school and also at home trying the challenges again to better his score.

He has participated really well with linking each sporting challenge with food group.

Keep up the good work

Isabella - Seaton Juniors

Isabella has been brilliant this half term as she always is. She gets involved and is amazing to teach. She always has a smile on her face and gives 110.%.  Isabella mainly performs in dance outside of school but gets stuck into every sport. She took a leadership role recently at the Cumbria School Games and teachers throughout Cumbria feedback how helpful she was and how she gave teams plenty of encouragement. Isabella’s enthusiasm is infectious and I hope she keeps this attitude up as she moves on to Secondary School.

Ella

Ella has been brilliant this half term during our different sports competitions each week. She has shown great teamwork perfect behaviour and always has the best attitude towards PE. Ella has also shown brilliant determination and hard work to try and help her team do as best they can while still being fair and honest.

Jacob- Flimby Primary School

Jacob has excelled during his time with me this term. His willingness to give everything a go is fantastic. Not only will he try his best in the games during P.E but more importantly he understands how to help the coach out. Whether that’s to join a weaker team to boost morale or help improve their skills, it could also be to help get equipment away / set up for the next activity. Jacob is on his way to secondary school and I believe he will be fantastic in P.E lessons there, because of his great attitude. On top of all of this his skills in cricket (throwing, catching, hitting) are top of the class. Well done Jacob !

Cameron- Fairfield Primary School

This is the second time Cameron has been nomimted by two different coaches. Cameron is dedicated to his sport and improving his skills. His lovely personality shines through when helping others, and even running back during mini marathons to help the rest of his class. Cameron offers advice and guidance to his peers and helps them work on their athletics skills.

Cameron is a pleasure to teach and shows great opportunity to build himself as a fantastic athlete in the future.

Well done Cameron, keep up the hard work. You are really standing out to our coaches!

Tom- Wiggonby Primary School

For the final half term of the school year we have been delivering intra school sport competitions in each P.E lesson, with a different focus each week. Tom has been able to excel each lesson as he’s been able to transfer his speed, agility, dribbling and hand eye coordination across a range of different sports so effectively. Not only has Tom got fantastic ability- he’s also a super team mate- highly competitive, giving 100% effort and determination in everything he does for the team cause. However he’s also very considerate, always allowing teammates to have opportunities to showcase their own skills. As well as being very positive- always allowing teammates to perform without applying pressure. He’s also had a brilliant year of P.E, with all of his hard work paying off. He managed to achieve a very high 3 star award in the 5 star 5 steps programme (just 1 point off 4 stars) and he’s also performed brilliantly in all of our termly challenges. He finishes this year with the best scores for year 5 in the stamina test (276 skips in 2 minutes) and the skill test (186 basketball bounces in a minute). Keep up the fantastic work Tom.

Laura-Jane- Victoria Infants and Nursery School

Laura Jane has been a superstar all year in her multi-skills sessions. She always listens and is eager to help others out if they are struggling. We have been doing a lot of practicing on our catching and throwing skills along with being able to control a football with our feet and Laura-Jane always tries her best no matter how tricky the challenge is! Since starting multi-skills Laura-Jane’s confidence has grown and she isn’t afraid to try out new things, including hanging from the monkey bars all by herself!

Well done Laura - Jane!

Summer Term 1 Athletes

Winner- Theo @ Distington Primary School

Honor- Seaton Juniors

My athlete of the half term in Honor.

Honor works hard every week in her gymnastics after school program to develop and perfect her skills. Each week Honor is willing to learn new skills and take on new challenges and is now aiming to achieve her first back somersault before we reach the summer holidays. Honor will always offer to help others, whether someone is having difficulty performing a movement, is stuck for choreography ideas or equipment needs setting up, honor is always ready to lend a helping hand! She is a natural born leader who's motivation and determination easily rubs off on others in the group as they look up to her for inspiration each week!

Ali- Victoria Juniors

Ali has been excellent this half term with our 5 stars 5 steps programme.  The most pleasing part being his improvement on his personal skills, namely focus and motivation.  He has scored very high on every event excelling on the sprint, vortex throw and triple jump.  Having been to our recent multi skill academy it’s fantastic to see Ali has listened to our feedback and is using his physical potential to its full effect.  Great scores Ali, keep up the hard work and positive attitude.

Theo- Distington Primary School

Theo has recently joined Distington school and is in year 2. Theo has been a pleasure in PE, he is polite and always likes to help collect equipment, holds the door open and helps his peers when they are struggling.

Theo loved taking part in the 5 Stars 5 Steps Athletics testing, he threw himself into every activity (literally) and his favourite was the high jump. Theo acknowledged his ability and skills and practised constantly to improve his score. His determination, motivation and attitude towards improving his skills is wonderful and is a role model to his peers.

Lauren- Bridekirk

Lauren has been brilliant this half term. She always gets involved and is amazing to teach. Lauren always has a smile on her face and when doing the commonwealth games escape room for our after school club she took a leadership role without hesitation. Lauren was helpful and gave her team plenty of encouragement throughout. Laurens enthusiasm is great to see each week in our different sports. Well done!

Owen- Maryport Juniors

Owen is a highly competitive young man who always puts 100% effort into his sport. That effort has been rewarded in his 5S scores this year as he has managed to smash his last years recordings- and improve across all events! He has matched the top high jump score of 0.85m for his year group from last year and has also beat the fastest hurdles time recorded from last year too- completing the 25m circuit in 12.49 seconds!

He has managed to score 5 out of 5 stars in sprint & hurdles events and finished overall with a very high 3 out 5 star award. A very impressive achievement for someone in year 3. Fantastic work Owen- well done.

Sienna- Seaton Juniors

Sienna has been fantastic during this term at school whilst completing her P.E lessons with me. As we have been doing the 5 Star 5 Steps she’s tried her best at all the events and she’s especially done well in her long jump and triple jump !

Getting some of the highest scores in her class ! Not only does this showcase her great P.E skills and ability but she’s always eager to learn, brilliant at listening and is great to help out myself and her group.

Evie- Seaton Juniors

This term we have been focused on our 5 steps, 5 star challenges and each week Evie has been exceptional, gaining the top end of scores consistently throughout. Especially her long jump! She is always so helpful and does everything with a big smile.

Her attitude to not only try her best, and better her score from last year, which she most certainly has! She always shows willingness to support and encourage others which is so lovely to see.

Evie has been as always, a pleasure to coach this half term. Well done!

Spring Term 2 Athletes

Winner- Fraser @ Bridekirk Dovenby

Lucas- Dean Primary School

Throughout this half term, this young man has always tried his absolute best in every lesson. He starts and finishes his PE lesson with a big smile, he is willing to learn, he challenges himself and is also the first to help and support others in his class.

His excellent behaviour and mannerism every week is exceptional and he is a pleasure to teach.

Well done Lucas, you are a true sportsperson, developing brilliant skills this term in volleyball, tennis and badminton.

Fraser- Bridekirk Dovenby School

Having worked with Fraser for a number of years now, his resilience and determination empower me. Fraser loves his sports, espescially football, however has started to loose his eye sight over the past year or so. Fraser joins in every PE lesson and not only encourages himself to compete and develop his skills, but also supports and guides his peers.

Recently Bridekirk School have invested in sports balls with bells in, which are helping encourage Fraser to listen careful before he reacts, which are helping guide him in the right direction. These have enabled us to try different disability sports, such as cricket and floor football. Fraser has done absolutely amazing adapting to this new world he lives in, and is building confidence every day. We are all so proud of him.

Harper- St Michaels Nursery and Infants School

Harper showed fantastic leadership during her playtime leaders training this half term. She was able to work well as a team, create 4 active and inclusive games for her class mates and proved herself to be a supportive and confident leader. She showed a good understanding of why it is important to be active during the school day to keep healthy and the importance of sport in developing her mind and body.

Kai- Ewanrigg Primary

Kai has been brilliant this half term while working on speed. He always turns up eager to learn and wanting to improve. He has shown a very high level of ability with his sprinting and agility during games. Kai is often offering help to other students and is always first to have his hand up to answer a question. Outside of school Kai has been focusing on his football with Carlisle United. Well done Kai keep up the top work.

Paige- Wiggonby Primary

Paige has been excellent throughout this half term’s P.E lessons. She has a fantastic attitude to learn and a determination to improve her skills- giving 100% effort in everything she does. She’s worked hard on her hand eye coordination, developing her ground strokes and consistency when rallying in tennis. This showed as she remained unbeaten in a recent schools tennis competition- helping her school to finish in 3rd place. Along with other children in the class, she’s set a challenge to use her lunchtimes to improve her skipping and to do the best she possibly can in this half terms speed challenge. Her perseverance has paid off as she scored an impressive 76 skips in the 30 seconds- beating last years score for yr4 girls. A keen gymnastic too, outside of school she has be working hard in her club and can now perform a front handspring off the vault unaided. Keep up the fantastic work Paige!!

Tommy- Lorton

Tommy- Lorton Primary

Tommy has been fantastic over the past 6 weeks whilst I have been coaching him. He’s always involved in the multi skill games, he’s tried his best, and more importantly wanted to challenge himself so he improves his skills. The hand to eye co-ordination he is able to display is outstanding.

His underlying competitiveness was a joy to watch and it’s great to see him striving to win ! His ability to work in teams is fantastic. He is able to listen to ideas from his team mates and he sometimes liked to take charge and be a great team leader ! Most of all, he arrived to every lesson with a smile on his face ready to give the task at hand his best shot!

Camron Boyd- Fairfield Primary

Cameron Boyd- Fairfield Primary

Cameron has been excellent, alongside the rest of the group, at our Y2 Multi Skill Club at Fairfield Primary School. He is a pleasure to coach, his attitude is fantastic and performs well in all our activities.  Cameron has great fundamental movement skills and backs this up with good listening skills.  When in team games he works well with others and has a will to win but accepts losing with no problem.  Already at Year 2 he has developed an excellent kick, is able to throw and catch, shoots great hoops and is a good runner over short and long distances.  Well done Cameron keep working hard on all your multi skills.
